THEATRE 29 ANNOUNCES EARLY AUDITIONS FOR “GREASE”.
Theatre 29 and directors Gary Daigneault and Ed Will have announced early tryouts for the Broadway smash musical “GREASE”.
The play, immortalized by the film starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, has become an American institution, with many of the songs becoming chart toppers.
The play will feature 20-30 younger performers, there are no specific age requirements but performers should be able to play young adults. One Older woman is also needed.
Gary Daigneault will be the Artistic Director, Ed Will the Musical Director, the show will be choreographed by Shelby Art, Technical Director is Thomas Highfill. This will be the eighth year in a row that a major musical, directed by the Daigneault and Will team, has played at Theatre 29, Previous shows have sold out rapidly.
The tryouts will be held at 7:00pm, Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at the Twentynine Palms Community Services Building (Across from the Park and Recreation office at Luckie Park in Twentynine Palms).
Those auditioning should be prepared to sing a song (Background CD with NO vocals, or bring sheet music, an accompanist will be provided). Dress to move, and be prepared to read character lines. For more information on the try-outs, contact Director Daigneault at 760-366-8471.
Rehearsals will be held Monday through Thursday at Theatre 29 from June 2, 2008 until July 3, 2008. Then Monday through Friday until the opening of the show July 18, 2008.
“GREASE” will run Friday and Saturdays at 7:00pm for five weeks from July 18 through August 16 with a Thursday Performance at 7:00pm August 7 and a Sunday Matinee August 10 at 2:30pm.
Tickets are $10.00 for Regular admission, $8.00 for Seniors and Military and $6.00 for Children under 12 and students with ID. Tickets will be available at the Theatre 29 Box Office at 760-361-4151 or online at www.theatre29.com .
Theater 29, the only year-round live theatre venue in the Hi or Lo Desert, is a non-profit, 501(c)3, all-volunteer community theatre located at 73637 Sullivan Rd. in the City of Twentynine Palms.
