THEATRE 29 SETS AUDITIONS FOR “BLITHE SPIRIT”
Theatre 29 and Director Butch Pelfrey have announced open auditions for the first show of the 2010 season, Noel Coward’s classic comedy, “Blithe Spirit”.
Called, “witty, intelligent theatre”, “Blithe Spirit” tells the story of Successful author Charles Condomine who hires a medium “Madame Arcati” to come to his home and perform a séance during a party in the hope that he can get material for his new book. Unfortunately for Charles, the medium ends up summoning the ghost of his glamorous first wife Elvira who is out to seek revenge on Charles. She attempts and succeeds in disrupting his second marriage and wreaks havoc on his life.
This is Director Butch Pelfrey’s fourth production at Theatre 29 where he has earned a well-deserved reputation for understanding the nuances of comedic timing , characterization, and energetic blocking. Pelfrey, a Twentynine Palms resident and retired Marine, is a training instructor at the 29 Palms Marine base’s Communication and Electronics school. Auditions for “Blithe Spirit” will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 22, 2009, at Theatre 29’s John Calveri Theater, 73637 Sullivan Road, in the City of Twentynine Palms.
The following parts will be auditioned: Edith, 16-20 years Ruth, 40ish Charles, 40ish Dr. Bradman, 40+ Mrs. Bradman, 40+ Madam Arkati, 50+ Elvira, 30ish

“Blithe Spirit” will open for a five-week run January 15, 2010 and run Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:00 p.m. through February 13. A 7:00 p.m. Thursday performance is set for January 28 and a Sunday matinee at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, February 7.
Tickets for “Blithe Spirit" are $12.00 for Regular Admission, $10.00 for Seniors and Military, and $8.00 for Children under 12 and Students with ID.
Season tickets for the 2010 season, which include all six main stage productions plus admission to the 2010 “Haunted Theater” event are also available. Season tickets are $68.00 for Regular admission, $56.00 for Seniors and Military, and $46.00 for children under 12 and Students with ID.
